In March of 2024, Flora was selected on the U17 National team for a tour in the Netherlands. Flora played in 2 friendly matches vs Naarden and Gooische before playing in The Hague Easter tournament, where they placed an impressive 6th out of 16, playing teams from around the world.
Flora was the youngest player on this BC White team which made an undefeated run through pool play, and then marched to the final before eventual defeat. Flora played through great adversity in this tournament, breaking her nose in the quarterfinal, and then suffering a lacerated ear lobe in the final. It was a fearless performance!
For the first time in her career, Flora tried out for the provincial team and was selected for BC White. Flora and her team travelled to Ontario to take on the rest of the country and lost only one match, going down in the final.
Flora joined Sea to Sky in 2021 and under the primary guidance of Kyle Marks and Briggita Tuffek has won 3 straight BC Club Championships. She is now part of the top team in the organization, competing in the Vancouver Premier League, putting her toe to toe with Senior National team and collegiate players.
Starting in 2022, Flora has regularly enrolled in semesters of training in RSCA. Rob Short is a former National team captain, 2 time Olympian and twice went to the World Cup as a player. He also helped coach the senior national team to the 2020 Olympic games. Rob has been an invaluable resource in Flora's development, and has selected Flora for multiple tours to Virginia for Shooting Stars tournaments, and to Cal Cup, which they won in the spring of 2023.
Playing for her school has given Flora a tremendous sense of pride. In her 8th and 9th grade seasons, Flora helped propel the Handsworth Junior team to back to back zone championships. Upon joining the Senior team in 10th grade, Flora was a mainstay in the midfield and guided the team to the rare triple crown, winning the Zone title, the BC AAA Girls Provincial title, and the oldest hockey tournament on the continent in the Bridgman Cup. Flora was named a BC AAA All Star for her performance. To start 2024, Flora has already played a dominant role in helping Handsworth win the Bridgman Cup yet again.
Born and raised in North Vancouver, BC, Flora has been involved in sports throughout her life. She was a downhill ski racer, and played ice hockey and soccer into her early teens before turning her focus to field hockey. As a young child she also competed in Irish dancing. In her spare time, Flora still enjoys downhill skiing, surfing, reading and is avid fan of music and film. She works at a local coffee shop, and spends her summers playing in the ocean!
